Muonionalusta Meteorite – Norrbotten, Sweden Campo del Cielo Meteorite - Argentina The Campo del Cielo meteorite field is located in Argentina, specifically between the provinces of Chaco and Santiago.) The Campo del Cielo meteorite is estimated to be around 4.5 billion years old, forming during the early development of our solar system. These meteorites fell to Earth between 4,000 and 5,000 years ago. However, the site was first discovered in 1576 by a Spanish military expedition. Muonionalusta Meteorite impacted in northern Scandinavia, west of the border between Sweden and Finland, about one million years ago. The first fragment of the Muonionalusta meteorite was found in 1906 near the village of Kitkiöjärvi. Around forty pieces are known today, some being quite large. Studies have shown it to be the oldest discovered meteorite impacting the Earth during the Quaternary Period.
